Douglas Wilson
I had the opportunity this afternoon to watch Pastor Douglas Wilson give a presentation on sexuality and creation (the first of two presentations). I recommend you all give it a watch. I have not watched the second presentation yet, nor have I viewed the Q&A. Having just watched the first lecture, I was impressed with a couple of things.
First, I am impressed with Douglas Wilson. I’m grateful to God for his patience. I’m grateful to God for his commitment to the Triune God and the Bible. He is a wonderful witness for the truth of God. Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!
Second, I am impressed with the “diversity” crowd. Two things are quite evident. First is that the “diversity” folks are (by and large) simply liars. I learned this in college. “We believe in diversity… unless you disagree with us. In that case, we’ll shout you down and call you names.” Any fair-minded individual watching this first presentation will recognize this quite clearly. The second thing is that the “diversity” crowd is not above lying and base misrepresentation. They accuse Pastor Wilson of causing the police to beat up people because they’re gay. Now, to folks to are not there, that might be concerning. To ANYONE who has ANY idea of what’s going on, this is nothing but a slanderous lie. Slanderous lies are the MO for the “diversity” crowd. One of my mantras, something I repeat to my children is: “Don’t believer liars.” Just don’t believe ‘em.
I am looking forward to watching the other presentation and the Q&A. Thanks to Pastor Wilson for being willing to suffer through this to proclaim the truth of God’s Word.
Wow, Tim! I click on my link to your blog and there he is… ol’ Wilson with his wry smile!
How very true about those who loudly call for diversity being the ones least interested in it. This is one reason I increasingly avoid political debates. People who believe in diversity and helping the poor often don’t know how to practice the former and are more interested in programs that force their neighbors to “contribute” to the latter through taxation and regulation than doing it themselves.
There are exceptions however. I was surprised at the tolerance and interest my conservative Christian position received at The Evergreen State College. There was actually a real effort to practice diversity on the part of faculty and students even while they firmly held a Leftist perspective.
Did you watch the video, Brandon? It’s very interesting at a number of points. Beyond the obvious fire-breathing, hating diversity folks, Wilson has some very salient points toward the end of the first presentation about public debate and Christianity. I think you’d like it. I know I did.
Man this is really making it’s round online!
I watched the entire Q&A, the first lecture and half of the second lecture. I too was impressed with how long suffering Pastor Wilson is. He is a real credit to Christ. I got tired just watching the Q&A so I cannot imagine how bad it was to actually be there. It also reminded me how uninformed the diversity crowd is about Christianity.
Late last night, I watched the first lecture (“Creation Sexuality”) and most of the rather lengthy Q.&A. session. I was simply appalled by the lack of civility and decency displayed by so many in the audience. A taxpayer-funded university ought to be a marketplace of ideas and a forum for free speech for the entire community. I think Pastor Wilson hit the nail on the head as to the “Diversity Nazis”: “I believe in free speech, but shut up!” The other thing that struck me was the woeful ignorance of basic Christian doctrine and the near total Biblical illiteracy. I guess after 12 or 13 years of Christ-less, Bible-less “public” education, at great expense to taxpayers of every state in the Union, all we have is illiteracy and ignorance.
